How the calculated price works
Every pin's calculated price is built the same way, from what it is listed for and what it has actually sold for. Here it is worked through on a real pin, Songs of the Past Wolf, with today's numbers.
1Every price is what you would pay
A listing's price is the buyer total: the item, plus shipping, plus any fee the marketplace charges the buyer (Mercari adds 3.6%; eBay adds nothing; Pinny Shop adds $6 shipping under $59). That way a $20 pin with $8 shipping is not cheaper than a $25 pin that ships free.

2The cheapest listing, every day for 30 days
Each day, across eBay, Mercari, Pinny Shop and 3rd-party listings, the lowest total anyone is asking is recorded. If the pin was in stock anywhere, only in-stock prices count.
30 days with a listing. The lowest of all of them, $54.18, is what the card shows as Lowest 30 Day.
3The middle of those days: the asking price
Line the days up from cheapest to most expensive and take the one in the middle — the median. One unusually cheap day, or one seller asking far too much, cannot drag it around the way an average would.

4What it actually sold for
Asking is not selling. Every sale in the last 90 days is collected: Mercari's own sold listings, eBay's count of units sold on a listing we tracked, and Pinny Shop's stock going down. Sales we only guess at — an eBay listing that vanished — never set the price. The most they do is show a pin is still selling, which keeps the not-selling cut off it.
A sale below 50% or above 200% of the asking price is set aside. Those are nearly always a lot of several pins, or a listing matched to the wrong pin.

5Blend the two, by how much the sales can be trusted
The calculated price moves from the asking price toward the sold price. How far depends on how many sales there are: one sale moves it a third of the way, two halfway, four two thirds, eight four fifths. A pin with no sales keeps its asking price exactly — unless it has not been selling, in which case the asking price is cut a little first.

+The special cases
Nothing listed. With no active listings, the Pinny Shop price is the price.
Scarce. When nothing has been buyable for 30 days — Pinny Shop out of stock and no listings anywhere — the price is the median eBay and Mercari asking price from the most recent 60 days it was sold out at Pinny Shop but listed elsewhere, never less than 10% over the Pinny Shop price. Without that history, the Pinny Shop price is boosted by 10–20%, depending on how wanted it is on PinnyPals. The card says Scarce.
Not selling. When a pin's cheapest listings have sat at about its asking price for 180 days with no sale near that price, the asking price is taken down 5%; after 365 days, 10%. Pins that sit that long sell far less often, but when they do sell it is usually close to the asking price, so the cut stays small. A sale near the asking price ends it, including Pinny Shop selling out or its stock going down. Pinny Shop's unit sales have only been counted since September 2026, so until 2026-12-24 a pin it sells at about that price is cut at most 5%. The card's price tooltip says when a pin has been cut, and by how much.
New. A pin released in the last 30 days has not filled its 30-day window yet; the card marks its price New and it will settle.
Sus. A price at least 3× both its own lowest in 90 days and what pins with similar demand sell for is flagged, not changed — usually one expensive listing sitting unsold.
